Is the 2017 VS Fashion Show China-Bound?

By March 20, 2017 Events, Featured, News

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has called several cities home. In recent years, the show has hit Cannes, London, New York City, Los Angeles, and Miami. Last year, Paris became the home of the VS Fashion Show. So where do you think the angels are off to this year? If you’re following Victoria’s Secret on Instagram, the 2017 VS Fashion Show is likely to be in China.

Asian Models on the Rise

If you recall the 2016 VS Fashion Show, a record 4 models were Asian, specifically Chinese. Many industry critics saw this as the brand’s effort in presenting a more ethnically diverse roster. It makes you wonder if they’ll be tapping into the local talent pool or if they’re just going to try to break into the market.

The 2016 show featured the some of the top models of the Chinese fashion industry. Liu Wen, He Sui, Xiao Wen Ju, and Ming Xi took the catwalk by storm. Liu Wen and He Sui are actually the first two Asian models to make it onto the VS roster. And it’s likely that you’ll be seeing these 4 faces if this year’s show is going to be in China.

Big clues to these are social media posts of Victoria’s Secret earlier this month.

Nǐ hǎo, Shanghai!! @mingxi11, @josephineskriver, @alessandraambrosio & @hesui923 have landed.

Along with Josephine Skriver and Alessandra Ambrosio, Ming Xi and He Sui were promoting the first lingerie-inclusive stores in China. Victoria’s Secret first opened their beauty and accessories-only store in China back in June 2015.

It’s official: we’re open in Shanghai! @alessandraambrosio does the honors, with @josephineskriver, @hesui923 and @mingxi11. ?
