The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place in Shanghai on November 20. And the countdown is on until the rest of the world can watch the broadcast. All the models participating in the show have been preparing for months. From fittings to diets and exercise, a lot of work goes into it. If you ever wonder what it takes, here’s a glimpse at the VS Angel diet!
VS Angel Diet with Help from Trainers and Nutritionists
For starters, the Victoria’s Secret Angels get some help from the professionals. They work with some of New York City’s best, including Tracey Anderson and the people at Gotham Gym. The models also live by the idea that you can make abs in the kitchen, relying on nutritionist Dr. Charles Passler to guide them in their diet.
How Angels Get Ready for the VS Fashion Show
According to Dr. Passler, he poses the same question to all his clients. Are you willing to accept what you need to do to make it happen?
Achieving the forever beach-ready bodies of VS models takes plenty of dedication. If you’re not in the right mindset to stick to a strict diet and exercise program, it won’t happen.
For the VS Angel diet, Dr. Passler recommends 7 to 9 hours of sleep and drinking 2 to 4 liters of water daily.
As for food, don’t consume sugar, processed food, and alcohol. Eat carbs only before working out, and cut it out completely 3 to 5 days before a show. This is because carbs retain water, thereby preventing the required lean look.
If your goal is to look like a Victoria’s Secret model, here’s a list of food you can add to your diet:
- Protein: meat, fish, shellfish, poultry, whole eggs, protein powder
- Fat: nuts, avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, chia seeds, flaxseeds
- Carbs: sweet potato, rice, winter squash, oats, quinoa, fruit
For such a competitive event like the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, it’s important to manage your stress. Meditate, get a massage, take a long bath, go for a walk. Anything activity that helps lessen your stress, you can do.
To achieve a lean look on the runway, Passler says you can stop exercising 3 days before a show. Lift some weights or do calisthenics before getting your hair and makeup done. When the show finally rolls around, you’ll look lean and strong and show some definition.
VS Angel Diet After the Show
While the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Angels make sticking to a diet look easy, food cravings are sure to hit. This is where Passler’s question comes into play. The good news is that once the show wraps, you’re free to indulge.
Karlie Kloss and Jasmine Tookes both admit to wanting to get pizza after the show. Lily Aldridge splurges on Indian Food. Karlie also adds chocolate to her list of must-eats after a runway.
